The Stone Island Nylon Lucido Overshirt features a unique ultra-light nylon fabric which is treated with a glossy resin finish.
For those of us who have grown up with the compass logo, or may have just discovered the Italian sportswear brand, it’s not about just having a badge on your arm. It’s actually all about the technology, something which seems to have become diluted in recent years for many other brands looking to source cheaper fabrics and mass market generic designs as something we’re all suppose to get excited about. Brands like Stone Island have always set the bar when it comes to fabric innovation, acting more like a scientific research lab, with a garment’s uniqueness & textile technology at the core of each design. I remember interviewing Carlo Rivetti in Milan back in 2018 and he really hit the nail on the head comparing Stone Island to the likes of Lamborghini & Ferrari. To those on the outside it’s easy to get confused with the bright colours, the badges & the flamboyancy, but fundamentally its always about the innovation, the research & making garments that no one else does. For the latest season Stone Island have now introduced one of their latest fabric innovations with Nylon Lucido.

Utilising one of Stone Island’s very latest fabric innovations, Nylon Lucido, which translates from Italian as ‘shiny nylon’ the updated overshirt features an ultra-light nylon fabric which gets the special Stoney treatment thanks to a glossy resin finish. Similar(ish) in appearance to other shiny archive grail pieces like their glazed silk (toffee wrapper) or Mussola Prismatica. Nylon Lucido is also treated to an advanced garment-dyeing process which creates depth & a multi-dimensional fabric aesthetic thanks to the resin-coated nylon.

Fit wise the Stoney design team have opted for a more comfort fit, again reviving the boxier fits we have seen from the Massimo Osti era of the late 80s & early 90s. Highlights include a stand collar with adjustable snap button cuffs & two vertical zipped pockets to the front. The glossy resin finish piece is then finished off with the highly respected compass logo badge to the right sleeve.
