Purple Mountain Observatory offer up a technical range of 2-layer overshirts, unique prints & PrimaLoft® Active Evolve fabric technology for AW26.
Lockdown was a bit mental wasn’t it. Queuing up for toilet roll somewhere in Stretford, one-way markers around supermarkets, DIY marine haircuts, clapping on balconies & Friday night quizzes put together by some random guy on YouTube. If there was one thing lockdown created it was a desire to get into the great outdoors. For me it was confined to an overpriced apartment block in Ordsall & getting out into the open (non-polluted) air of the Pennines & the Peak District that made a massive difference to your mental health. It was this fixation with getting outside, and the fact we were all “locked down”, that created a new wave of performance rig outs. What would later become the next generation of outdoors style, under the ‘love it or loathe it’ moniker of Gorpcore. As people left the grime & crime of the cities to the beauty spots & peaks of the outdoors, they didn’t want to look like the traditional walkers & hikers with their smelly hiking socks & bobbled fleeces from 1995. As the outdoors became a catwalk for contemporary outdoors style, it was brands like Purple Mountain Observatory that were born out of this next generation of style-driven performance brands. As literally hundreds of these brands flooded the “lifestyle” market, not many have created the reputation & respect like Purple Mountain Observatory have. For AW26, the British brand are back and once again it’s all about the technical fabrics.

For AW26, the Matt Braun founded brand returns with a collection of bold 90s hues, technical outerwear, military inspired overshirts & primaloft pullovers. Personal favourites include the Climate Overshirt which features a lightweight premium 2-layer shell & an Ultrasonic taped seam construction in a classic military green colourway. There’s also the Ridge Jacket which features a laminated mesh outer with a grey oscillations print alongside piped seam technical detailing. PrimaLoft® Active Evolve fabric technology features across bold green beanies & cosy pullovers for the colder weather. There’s also super soft 260gsm heavyweight cotton graphic tees with a selection of unique PMO graphics & lightweight nylon over-the-head style track jackets.
