Sportswear Not For Playing In: Roberto Baggio For C.P. Company

Legendary Italian footballer Roberto Baggio aka ‘The Divine Ponytail’ teams up with C.P. Company for their latest AW26 campaign ‘Sportswear Not For Playing In’.

Everyone has one of them moments in life that starts a life-long passion. For me personally when it came to football it was Italia ’90. The very first World Cup I remember watching and as much as the Gazza tears took all the headlines here in the UK, Italia ’90 for me was all about the Italians, in particularly Roberto Baggio. The way he gracefully controlled the ball & attacked the opposition with his iconic mullet haircut & neon yellow Diadora boots started a fascination with Italy from a young age that would lead to working, and writing about, some of the biggest Italian sportswear brands. Baggio was also one of the many faces of Channel 4’s Sunday football show ‘Goal Lazio’ which gave UK viewers the chance to catch up on the highlights of Serie A in the 1990s. Following his own spells at Juventus & AC Milan as well as 12 months at Bologna, the birthplace of the Godfather of sportswear, Massimo Osti, the ‘Divine Ponytail’ now turns his attention to fellow Italians & the original Chester Perry brand with a short film ‘Sportswear Not For Playing In’ to promote the latest C.P. Company AW26 collection.

Featuring a short video which sees Roberto Baggio alongside Lorenzo Osti (Massimo Osti’s son) head to the Aladdin’s Cave of fabric innovation the Massimo Osti archive in Bologna to explore C.P. Company’s 50 plus years in the game. Giving a nod to Baggio’s stint at Bologna which is also the spiritual home of the Italian sportswear brand, the ‘Divine Ponytail’ can also be seen wearing some of C.P.’s very latest Autumn/Winter ’26 innovation such as their Opal Padded Google Jacket which features a garment dyed, multifilament nylon coated fabric with a transparent membrane.
